Real talk time and call to action: I think it’s time to call an end to Youth Beyond Enterprises, at least as it purportedly still focuses on young entrepreneur development. Quite simply, I’m not one anymore and it’s hypocritical of me to keep acting like I am one.
Can I tell you the fundamentals of taking an idea, testing it and turning it into a viable business? Yes. But, that’s not where my passions lie anymore because it makes me feel like a bit of a fraud when I do that, knowing that’s not my truth. To be honest, I think most people can tell that looking at the site and my most recent posts these days.
Where do they lie? In storytelling, to be honest. I get a huge burst of energy/ball of fire in my soul when I tell my story (like I am now, I guess…) and when I help others tell theirs. Be it the young teen just launching their homemade game business at the beginning of the pandemic, the established & award-winning marketing agency in Newfoundland, the serial entrepreneur making waves in the craft brewery business or raising the profile of individuals like myself who identify as Asexual. Plus, telling my own story in bits and pieces.
Giving people, no matter who they are, the platform to tell their story, support the crap out of local businesses/social enterprises/non-profits and also share my knowledge as a Community Leader. That’s what really refuels my fire. I love championing and helping people make themselves and their communities better places.
So, who am I? I’m not sure yet, as I intentionally work to make Canada a better place, but I need my audiences’ suggestions too on what/whom I should be blogging about. Please drop them into the comments!
